Ápero Talk: Övül Ö. Durmusoglu

Audiences: Imaginative, Speculative, Performative
Our experience of the different forms of protest in streets and squares, which make the well-known definitions of public space no longer sufficient, make the question “what is public?” gain a new kind of vitality. Co-habitation and new possibilities of imagination to live together point to a new and delicate horizon. Engagement with the public in the context of contemporary art, on the other hand, is developing through new departments and programs for institutions. Ovum. Durmusoglu will carry out a brief analysis of the crossing of three different curatorial experiences working with audiences: in dOCUMENTA (13) as a discursive expansion, in Sofia Contemporary 2013 as a search for an infrastructure, and in the 13th Istanbul Biennial, as a future imaginative agenda, while questioning what changed Gezi in his perception of the public.
