Gaby Felten
Resident
Gaby Felten studied at the California College of the Arts (Oakland/San Francisco, 2005) and The Royal Academy of the Arts in The Hague (KABK, 2014). She has resided in 9 countries on 3 different continents during her lifetime. Her artistic practice has greatly been influenced by these episodes of temporary residence. Labor, identity formation and alienation are subjects which she deals with often. In August 2012 she was invited to show her performance The Department of Surplus Person Affairs at the Matadero in Madrid during the satellite programming of the exhibition Our Work is Never Over (2012). In 2014 she received the Pro Invest grant from STROOM, an artist support organization based in The Hague. In 2015 she was asked by the Montreal art journal Le Merle (Volume 3, nr. 1) to contribute an article on the changing landscape of cultural support in the Netherlands. Gaby regularly shows her work in group exhibits in The Hague, in locations such as Gemak, Nest, Nutshuis, Korzo and Hoop.
