Marcos Benítez

Marcos Benítez (1973, Asunción, Paraguay) is a visual artist. He has received many awards, such as Honorable Mention, Livio Abramo Award (2014), Juntas Culturales del Olimpismo Award (2005), Henri Matisse Award (2000), Jóvenes Creadores Award (1998), First Prize at the Salón de Arte joven del diario La Nación (1996), Pedro Agüero Foundation Award (1995) and Livio Abramo Award in Engraving (1994). Marcos studied Visual Arts with Olga Blinder, at the Instituto para el Desarrollo Armónico de la Personalidad (IDAP). He also studied printmaking with Livio Abramo and Edith Jiménez, and acquired knowledge of Art History with Dorothee Willert. In 2015, she was part of the Contemporary Art Week in Antofagasta, Chile. In 2016 he was selected as artist in residence for Genealogies: Puerto Casado, coordinated by Valentina Bonifacio, as a joint project of Parsons New School, New York, Ca’Foscari University of Venice and the MB of Asunción. He directs Cabichui Taller de Grabado, a space dedicated to the art of printmaking.
