Oscar Abraham Pabón
Artist, Resident
Oscar Abraham Pabón (1984, San Juan de Colón, Venezuela) is an artist based in Barcelona. He studied Architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Caracas and a Masters in Visual Arts at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. He currently lives in Barcelona (Spain) where he studies ceramics at the Escuela de Arte La Industrial. He bases his research on the soulful search for new meanings for shapes and materials. In his language the geometric and the abstract are transformed to provide objects with other readings. The carpets of traditional Persian patterns are intervened by the artist and are deployed in space with clear sculptural intentions. It is an ornamental language that coexists with an abstract geometry that invites the viewer to walk through the space and perceive a two-dimensional progression between the floor and the wall. He has been selected to participate in numerous public art projects, one of his most recent interventions Ora Pro Nobis was part of the recent Biennial of Cuenca (Ecuador), 2019. His work is part of the collections of the Pérez Art Museum, Miami; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Chile (MAC), Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros; Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam, among others.
