BAR module 18 – 22 March 2019<\/span><\/strong>
\nWith the participation of Ad Minoliti (AR), Irene Aristiz\u00e1bal (CO-ES-UK), Francesc Ruiz (ES) and Antonio Gagliano (AR-ES).<\/p>\n

This module wants to explore different practices that wander between queer and decolonial theories, feminisms, pedagogy, drawing, painting and disturbing dissemination of knowledge to generate projects that, involving different allies in their development, affect processes of political and social change at different levels. .<\/p>\n

“Possible non-binary geometry and feminist expanded painting” <\/span><\/strong>workshop by<\/span> Ad Minoliti<\/span><\/strong>
\nAs an Argentine multidisciplinary painter, Minoliti’s proposal is a combination of painting, video, anime and design. The installations and performance explore alternatives to traditional discourses, involving a diversity of themes such as Queer theory, cyborgs, feminism, abstraction, science fiction, architecture or decoration, childhood and animal rights. . For Ad Minoliti, geometry is the best tool to experiment with a non-human utopia, where gender theories can be applied to pictorial language and find other ways to investigate the visual world.
\nAudiovisual presentation with brief questionnaires based on her own work and based on the Diana Aisenberg Method.<\/p>\n

Ad Minoliti creates pictorial work of a possible combination between geometry and queer theories. In her body of work, geometry is the best tool to represent and imagine a trans-human heterotopia, within which gender theories can be applied to pictorial language and find new ways of experiencing the visual world.<\/em>
\nShe lives and works in Buenos Aires. His exhibitions include: Aichi Triennial (Japan), FRAC Nantes (France), Mercosur Biennial (Brazil), Front Cleveland Triennial, Brooklyn Museum and Independent (NY), Peres Project Galleries (Berlin), Cr\u00e8vecoeur (Paris) and Agustina Ferreyra (Mexico City); and residences in Mexico, San Francisco and London, among others. She was awarded several Acquisition Awards such as Arcos Dorados de Latinoam\u00e9rica, Bah\u00eda Blanca Museum Biennial, Central Bank National Hall, Federico Klemm Foundation, Cultural Equality Award and Uade.<\/em><\/p>\n

Irene Aristiz\u00e1bal is Head of Curatorial and Public Practice at BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art, Gateshead. She worked as Head of Exhibitions at Nottingham Contemporary from 2013 to February 2019, where she curated exhibitions and commissioned projects by Pia Camil, Steffani Jemison, Otobong Nkanga, Simon Starling, Michael Beutler, Pauline Boudry\/Renate Lorenz, Sun Ra, Rana Hamadeh , Danai Anesiadou, Danh V\u00f5, Carol Rama and Asco. Recent group exhibitions include Still I Rise: Feminisms, Gender Resistance (2018-19, co-curated with Rosie Cooper and C\u00e9dric Fauq) and States of America: Photography from the Civil Rights Movement to the Reagan Era (2017 – Co-curated with Abi Spinks).<\/em><\/p>\n

Irene will co-curate British Art Show 9, alongside Hammad Nasar, which opens in Manchester in 2020 and travels to Wolverhampton, Aberdeen and Plymouth. She was a curator at the FRAC Nord Pas de Calais, Dunkirk in 2010\u201311, and received the H+F Curatorial Fellowship (2010). Before that, she co-directed the non-profit space B\u00e9tonsalon in Paris (2005-06). She has also curated exhibitions at the Fundaci\u00f3 Mir\u00f3, Barcelona; Form Content, London and the Museum of Health Sciences, Bogot\u00e1.<\/p>\n

BAR module<\/strong> is a flexible pedagogical format that aims to generate learning opportunities around various topics and dynamics. It is an intensive week of work in the city of Barcelona that seeks to generate learning spaces through different themes and dynamics. As part of the BAR TOOL#2 Training Program, the BAR modules will be opened to a wider audience (researchers, students, curators, artists, educators, etc).<\/p>\n
