The current crisis caused by the Covid-19 and the resulting situation, have led us to rethink our activity in the upcoming months. Between October 2020 and May 2021 BAR project residencies will focus on supporting the local scene and working with its agents. An invitation to the latest will be open to local artists and curators through this call for applications.
With the aim of reflecting on the current moment, and to have an influence in the present and the future of cultural and artistic work in this new scenario, the residency will consist in the conception of a project with both an online and presential (if circumstances allow) scope of development, and taking into account the mandatory physical distance measures.
The residences will be developed from the resident's own workplace (in the absence of confirmation of available BAR project workshops), will last one month each and the requests are:
- an active presence on the BAR Project's website and social networks
- the planning and development of any type of presentation, meeting, activity, installation or action that speculates and challenges the possibilities of continuing to gather
To apply, candidates must send a single pdf of 10 pages maximum (5MB) with the material required in the following list:
4- One "My studio visit. The city as studio "* to be developed in person during the first week of residence with the health security measures in force, and which will function as a starting point for the rest of the activities to be developed during the month.
5- A maximum of three online and/or face-to-face activities to be carried out during the following weeks. (An online activity must be secured in the case of no possible social gathering).
6- A proposal for an art-work to be produced in a limited edition for sale in barproject.net online shop. (Conditions to be specified with the resident).
7- We will host up to seven residents. The application must specify the season of preference for the residency:
1. October - December 2020
2. February - May 2021
Each selected resident will receive an amount of 1300€ (taxes included) covering fees and production for the month of residency. These fees will be paid upon presentation of invoice.
The application must be sent before 14h (Roma time) on Tuesday 11 August 2020 at firstname.lastname@example.org. Those selected will be notified by 21st of August.
