Doriane Geneste

Participant

Doriane Geneste (Toulouse, 1989) is an artist and researcher who lives and works in Paris. She can be found behind tables. Seminar table. Archive table. Library table. Studio desk. The idea that runs through her research and visual exploration is the question of how to make cosmologies. What tools are needed, what *sacrificial* rituals are performed. And for what cosmologies. She sees the artist and researcher as a producer of an order of thought. With a changing degree of opacity. With a different materiality each time. Which is why she has recently been asking herself how to navigate through the different consistencies of reality. And how to catch up with reality through research and art, to face what is left behind.

Her journey begins with the dispossession of the spoken word. And the individual ignorance produced by the nation. She has transformed it into images. To try to produce an art-based research practice that can lead to new situated epistemologies. It returns to the spoken word. She works with images.
She holds an MA in Art and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Toulouse 2 – Jean Jaurès, an MA in Art from the Ecole Nationale des Arts de Paris-Cergy, and did a short stint in the CCC Master’s programme at Head-Genève.
