Gian Cruz (1987, Manila, Philippines) is a multidisciplinary Filipino artist of Spanish and Chinese origins whose artistic practice is strongly rooted in photography integrated with his institutional work and his training in art theory and criticism. Cruz’s work focuses on the volatility of the image in contemporary culture and the multiple discourses that accompany it. Her practice extends to performance, translation, history, architecture, ecology, film, HIV/AIDS activism and various other fields and contexts that relate to her current concerns as an artist.
