Barcelona Crea – BAR Project 2026 Research Grant

BAR Project is pleased to announce a new open call for the Barcelona Crea – BAR Project 2026 Research Grant.

An initiative of the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB), the grant supports pre-production processes within artistic practice, providing time and resources for the development of new proposals through conceptualisation, research, experimentation, documentation, and testing.

The grant aims to contribute to Barcelona’s cultural and scientific ecosystem by supporting artistic and research-based processes and providing resources for the development of new forms of artistic enquiry and experimentation in the city.

The grant includes €6,000 gross and a mentored residency period with BAR Project.

The open call is addressed to artists, curators, performers, and researchers based in Barcelona or its metropolitan area, as well as applicants whose projects maintain a significant connection to the city and its cultural context.

Eligible proposals must be new works or projects in development that have not previously been publicly presented and have not yet completed the development stages supported by the grant. Projects must maintain a meaningful connection to Barcelona or its metropolitan area, either through their subject matter, the applicant’s place of residence, or their professional and cultural ties to the city.

Application deadline: 30 October 2026, 11:59 pm
Selection announcement: 13 November 2026
Research and development period: mid-November 2026 – 31 January 2027
