HAUS, Carrer Ciutat de Granada 34–36, Barcelona (Llacuna Metro)
BAR Project presents, in collaboration with EX, The Surprise. Selected Projects by Roberto Jacoby, the Argentine artist’s first exhibition in Barcelona, curated by Santiago Villanueva.
The project brings together a focused selection of three works by Jacoby that engage performance, activating several of the central axes of a body of work that is key to understanding the relationships between art, politics, and collective action. Jacoby’s practice has been internationally recognized for the projects and concepts he has developed since the 1960s in Buenos Aires, in dialogue with the Instituto Di Tella and, crucially, with the figure and thought of Oscar Masotta.
The exhibition is presented within the framework of Cocoliche in the Epic. Forms of Immaturity between Buenos Aires and Barcelona (1932–2025), an exhibition curated by Villanueva at EX (L’Hospitalet), where two works by Jacoby connected to the figure of the clown are on view.
Roberto Jacoby (Buenos Aires, 1944) is a central figure in Latin American conceptual and action-based art. His practice has radically challenged the boundaries of art, shifting it toward mass media, performance, writing, and forms of collective organization, while maintaining a decisive influence on contemporary artistic and political thought.
