Swimming & Reading Club, with Luca Calderó
Following the presentation of En tua vulnera absconde me (Hide Me in Your Wounds) at HAUS, Luca Calderó presents Swimming & Reading Club, a workshop that opens up one of the methods underpinning the exhibition: underwater reading.
Together, we will go to the sea and read fragments of texts by writers whose work has shaped the research behind the project, including val flores, Saint Teresa of Ávila, Monique Wittig, Angela of Foligno, and Audre Lorde. Despite their different contexts, they all transform the wound into a place to swim, float, and dive.
We will explore what happens to both body and text when they meet in the water—when organs shift and take on new forms, and when we have to come up for air in order to keep reading.
We will meet on 23 July at 5:30 pm at Bogatell Beach, and the workshop will last approximately one hour. Afterwards, you are invited to visit the exhibition at HAUS, BAU’s Space for Art and Contemporary Practices, a 15-minute walk away, where we’ll have something cold waiting for you.
Please remember to bring sunscreen, swimwear, and swimming goggles.
Registration: hello@barproject.net by 21 July.
En tua vulnera absconde me is part of the Festival Art Nou, the emerging art festival of Barcelona and L’Hospitalet, organised by ArtBarcelona.
